Description:

My friend Floris from the Netherlands plans on attempting the PCT again next year, and is visiting Canada this week to spend some time practicing snow travel and safety in the mountains with me. The plan would be to drive (hopefully to the summer parking) of Phelix and hike up to the hut early Saturday, then spend the afternoon exploring above the hut practicing self arresting with ice axes, and getting used to sliding around and post holing in slushy spring snow. Sunday we would have a chill moring and drive back to the city.

This is open to beginner/intermediate hikers looking to visit the hut, and practice self arresting, and maybe summit a local peak near phelix. This will be a reasonably laid back trip, but expect a bit of suffering in the snow with just hiking shoes and microspikes. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. I'll send out an e-mail to the committed list on Tuesday to coordinate if enough people/cars sign up.
