Have you ever wanted to see Wreck Beach from the other side? Here is your big opportunity! Come hike out to the end (hopefully) of the Iona North Arm Jetty with me. I finish all my exams on the 24th, so I'm keen to get out and celebrate the (temporary) freedom from uni work.

When I saw this long skinny jetty extending into the ocean on the map I knew I had to get out there. I estimate the round trip (car to car) to be around 12 to 13km, with minimal elevation gain. Based on the photos it does get a bit rocky and scramble-y towards the end so bring some secure footwear. Should be pretty doable for most people, hence the beginner friendly tag.

Plan is to arrive at say 11ish and start hiking around 11:30. We should reach the tip around 1:30 and we can have some lunch there if people are feeling keen.

I have read the jetty should be hiked at low tide, hence the timing of the trip. We should be heading outwards as the tide goes out and get to the end around low tide. This way we are at the lowest and thinnest parts when it is low tide which should allow us to stay dry. Getting there by public transport (while possible) looks to be slightly painful, so I am hoping we get a driver!

Still gotta figure out what I'm doing pre-trip wise, it will be highly dependent on the number of people interested and experiance levels. If I do hold one it will likely be either the 22nd or 23rd.

NOTE: If the weather is looking super rough this trip will be postponed, I want people blown away by the views not the wind.
