Description:
Copied from last time I posted this trip and got rained out:
I've somehow managed to be in the VOC for almost 3 years without ever hiking Mt. Gardner, so it seems about time to remedy that.
Just to spice it up (also because I'd rather bike 70km than organize car groups), I'm planning to do it self-propelled. Here is what this will entail:
Bike from the VOC clubroom to Horseshoe Bay in time to catch the 10:15 ferry
The ride is 35km and quite hilly
Take the 10:15 ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen island (20 mins)
Bike to the Mt. Gardner trailhead (3km)
Hike (10km, 700m elevation gain, or more if we don't bike right to the trailhead)
Do the same in reverse, aiming for the 15:30 or 16:35 ferry
Bike back to the VOC clubroom, or perhaps Rain or Shine.
As I said above, the ride to Horseshoe Bay is hilly, and this will be a long day... if you're keen but have any questions, shoot me an email and we can chat!
