Start: Saturday, Jun. 22nd, 7:45 am
Description:
It's still early in the warm season, so I'm expecting lots of snow still. We will access Crown Mountain via Grouse Mountain by taking the BCMC. Spikes highly recommended. Expect a full day of somewhat challenging hiking. Pack a lunch and plenty of water. Have an emergency overnight kit prepared (i.e., emergency surival blanket, candle, lighter, touque). I'm planning on taking the gondola on the way out (~$20.00). We can meet at the trailhead at 7:45 AM. I'll be EVOing up from Kits if anyone in the area wants to tag along. Or better yet, someone vehicle enabled can give me a ride.
Update: Conditions are still very poor, and I think this is better postponed for another week.
P.S. I saw an introduction to scrambling trip for the firrst week of July that looks awesome. This would be a nice warmup if you're new to all of this.
P.P.S. Some people wear a rock climbing helmet for this. Rock fall is primarily due to others on the trail, but can occur spontaneously as well.
