Description:

Itching to view alpine peaks and to feast your eyes on stunning, teal-blue glacial lakes? Heard of this beautiful gem but afraid of the weekend crowds? Look no further because we're going to Garibaldi! And I have a car.

Tentative idea is to leave metro Vancouver around 8:00am. The drive to/from the Rubble Creek trailhead in Garibaldi Provincial Park will take ~2hrs.

Trail details: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/canada/british-columbia/garibaldi-lake--2

  • Some snow is to be expected on the trail, including some skipping on rocks to get past a small creek. Proper hiking footwear is required, microspikes and/or trekking poles recommended but doesn't sound like it's necessary.
  • Temperatures will drop 6 degrees Celsius every 1000m of elevation gained. Bring warm layers and check the weather!

What you need:

  • Ensure you are fit and prepared enough to complete this hike safely
  • Be prepared for a full day out (e.g. 2L of water, snacks, lunch, extra clothes).
  • Practice Leave No Trace. There will be no garbage bins in the park, pack out what you packed in. No food will be left in the car either due to bears.
  • No music speakers, drones, vapes/smoking, nor fires permitted in the park.
  • Be prepared to chip in for gas money for your driver!
