Description:
Callaghan Lake Provincial Park and Callaghan Conservancy are two awesome areas in the mountains outside of Whistler. Let's make a basecamp at the lake for some boating/kayaking and hiking!
I'm planning to leave sometime Friday to avoid the Gran Fondo faff and grab a good campsite. On Saturday we'll assemble an armada of various boats or boat-adjacent flotation systems and go across the lake, to the start of the trailhead to Cirque Lake. From there we'll hike to the lake and take in the views before heading back to base camp. That night will be a barbeque (if anyone has one to share please do). On Sunday we can hike to nearby Ring Lake, with an optional ascent of Callaghan Mountain for anyone like me who is in their peakbagging era.
Things you'll need:
- camping gear
- kayak/canoe/packraft - basically something that will get across the lake and back without capsizing
- personal flotation device (mandatory if going on the lake)
- pack and supplies for dayhiking
- food to share
Feel free to get in touch with any questions!
