Description:
In case you haven't heard, the Sphinx Hut needs some work this summer. So this trip is a placeholder to get a crew together for whatever needs to get done over the long weekend. Why should you join? First, workhikes are a huge part of what makes the club great! Second, this trip will involve the rare opportunity to canoe across the spectacular Garibaldi Lake to one of the club's huts.
Possible tasks at the hut include:
- continuing/finishing the roof repair
- repairing the floor
- improving marmot proofing
- carrying out remaining tools and some waste from demolition
For the trip you'll need the usual backpacking gear (a list can be found here). Ideally, you'll have previous backpacking experience as well as experience paddling a canoe.
Feel free to get in touch with any questions! If you're interested in getting more involved, we will likely be having general meetings about the hut repairs in the lead up to the trip.
Cheers,
Isaac
