Description:

(Not so) good news! We have to replace the roof of another hut this summer, this time on our Sphinx/Burton Hut in Garibaldi Provincial Park. The good news? We've got plenty of practice.

A demolition trip lead by Jacob will be going up a few days in advance, and will deal with helicopter faff (though we likely will deal with helicopter faff too as the tentative date for flight of materials is on August 25th). Then we'll be set up for a week of construction to make the new roof.

The somewhat complicated issue with Sphinx is that after hiking up the switchbacks from Rubble Creek, we'll have to canoe to the hut, as it lies across Garibaldi Lake. This will add some logistics as some people might only be able to join for the weekend(s), and others will have to ensure that canoes come back so minimal shuttling is needed. However, leave that organizational mess to me, I'm sure some sort of spreadsheet will sort it all out.

As for who we need on this trip; anyone can join! If I learned anything from the Phelix roof last summer, it's that anyone can learn enough to use a hammer or pass other people materials, at the very least. If you are interested in joining, but aren't sure if you're able to join, shoot me an email and we can see what we can do.

So, sign up as intersted and indicate the days you can join, obviously don't worry about it if you can't make it for the full week, we'll iron out details as they come!

Things that will come in handy:

- tent + camping stuff

- mosquito repellent or clothing

- steel toed boots if you have them

- helmet (can grab one from the club if you need)

- clothing you don't care about too too much

- a flexible mindset
