Description:
Staying safe in the backcountry is very important, but wilderness first aid courses are expensive and time-consuming. Because of this, I will be running a short informal class in the clubroom where I will go over some basic first aid skills and principles. No previous first aid experience is required! We will be covering:
- Packing a first aid kit
- Patient assessment
- Basic airway management
- Basic bleed control
- Splinting
- Sling and swathe
I hope that by the end of this short session, everyone will have learned some skills they can take into the backcountry and that some people will be inspired to take a full wilderness first aid course.
