Description:

Hey everyone!!! Happy fall!

With last weekend putting an official end to summer (and I'm still sad about it lol), it's time to look forward to the next best thing: fall foliage in the mountains!!! I've always wanted to get out to E.C. Manning Park and see the Golden Larches, but one thing after another has prevented me in previous years, but I'm not letting that happen again this year. I will likely be out of town for the overnight trip Quintus is leading at the end of the month but I'm still so keen on going, so for those of you who don't want to stay overnight but still want to see the larches, this is your chance!!!

I'll say it now: this will be a LONG day, but so much stoke regardless. Plan is to leave UBC/Vancouver no later than 6am, with hopes of being at the trailhead by 8:30am. The hike takes about 8 hours, but I'd like to leave a solid buffer for lots of picture taking and enjoying the view with the ability to make it back to the trailhead before dark. At this point, I'm hyperfocused on the larches, but I know summitting also has some gorgeous views. I kinda hate scrambling, but I'm potentially down if the weather is nice enough for a good view. We can def talk about whether we just want to go to the larches (18km) or summit (21km) at the pre-trip :)

Make sure to bring a headlamp just in case we go a little overtime and don't get back to the trailhead before sunset. We likely won't get back to UBC/Vancouver until 9:30-10ish.

For gear, make sure you have everything under 'Summer Day Trip': https://www.ubc-voc.com/wiki/Gear_Lists

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Also, I'm planning to run this trip on Sunday the 6th, just since the weather is looking better, but I'm down to do Saturday the 5th if the forecast changes!
