Description:

TLDR: I want to walk from UBC to Stanley Park and around it. Anybody is welcome to join me if you bring a snack to share. Approximately 13-23km, depending where you want to leave us.

You should all sign up for Elizabeth's Hike-a-thon (https://www.ubc-voc.com/tripagenda/details.php?tripid=3885). Get outside and moving, explore walkable-ish Vancouver, raise some funds and possibly get a free Fjallräven item out of it. What else is there to say? Link it to your strava and record this walk, you'll get in quite a few kilometres. So here's the plan:

I want to meet in between the UBC Aquatic Centre and the 44 stop at 8.45am. And then we'll start walking at 9am! We'll start off with Pacific Spirit Park and will then cut through to Spanish Banks and walk along Jericho and Kits beach. After that we'll cross the bridge and walk via Sunset Beach and English Bay to Stanley Park. If people want to they can take the bus back from there, after approximately 13km (exact distance depending on what trails we take). Unless my ankles get stuck (as they unfortunately sometimes do) I will want to walk around Stanley Park along the seawall (adding another 10), possibly heading into the interior and exploring the forests. Depending on the time of day and how weak my legs are I'll either take the bus back or walk back the entire way. We'll see.

Will this be Type 1 or Type 2 fun? Not sure. Join me and find out!

Since this is on Thanksgiving, I was thinking we could do a snack potluck. Bring something for everybody to share, and we’ll see how big our spread is then. Since this trip will barely even reach lunchtime (unless we walk reaaaally slowly), we’ll be back in time for a proper dinner anyways, so if you have Thanksgiving plans this trip won’t hinder you from sticking to those.

When I walked a marathon with a friend a few years back we at some point struggled to come up with things to talk about. This will be even more fun with (possibly) strangers, so I'll bring some random questions for us to all answer once it gets quiet. Random shit like "If you were a granola bar which kind would you be". Just with more lengthy responses. It'll be fun. And weird. But what else is the VOC, sooooo......

I'll send out an email two-ish days before then with some more details. This is a very random trip I thought could be fun. If I wind up doing it alone that's fine too, I just want to go for a walk and hug some trees.
