Description:

The fourth run in the Vertical Kilometer (VK) series features Trail 7: an obscure access to Wreck Beach located on Old Marine Drive.

Caltopo claims the route is only 45m, but I measured 50m on my watch during my test run. Since there's a bit of up-and-down in the middle of the stairs, I suspect my watch is closer to the truth. The math yields a cruel result: we will need to run up and down the stairs 20 times to get our 1000m of gain. I suspect this will be the most challenging of the VKs yet. 

Come join me at 8:00m on a school day to experience (or re-experience) the joys of lapping the staircase. We will meet at the top of the stairs, at which point everyone can run (or more realistically, power-walk) up and down the stairs at their own pace. When you have completed your 20th lap, stop your clock. 

Remember to bring lots of water (you can leave it at the top of the stairs).
