Description:
Last year Tommy Caldwell decided to go for a grand bikepacking trip from his home in Colorado to the Devil's Thumb in the Alaska Panhandle. The point of the trip was to raise awareness for the protection of Tongass National Forest and to promote "Green-pointing" AKA self propelled climbing trips. Looking for a partner he eventually snagged Alex Honnold, but that also meant a giant film crew (which slightly defeats the environmental aspect but it's the thought that counts right?). This film follows their journey climbing along the way at places like the Wind River Range in Wyoming and the Bugaboos in BC, before eventually ending up at the Devil's Thumb itself.
Tommy did his talk at MEC in the spring about this topic and it sounded super rad, so I'm stoked to see the film as soon as it comes out. Some of the best climbers and adventure filmakers in North America took part in the production so it's guaranteed good!
The premiere date for streaming on Disney+ is listed as October 18th, but there is no time, so hopefully we can start on this day/time, but I might change the date/time closer to the premiere so double check before you come to join!
Takes place at the clubroom in the basement of the Nest, and anybody is welcome to join! Bring your snacks, drinks and popcorn!
