Description:
The Tantalus Range is an elusive place in my mind. It's a land where serious mountaineering happens and epic adventures are to be had. While I don't have confidence in my technical skills to summit anything there comfortably, I do feel able to check out Lake Lovelywater and maybe gain the ridge on Alpha mountain.
From word of mouth, this requires a float (or alternatives??? club canoe? ORU?) across the Squamish River. Then some hiking on a (root scrambling?) trail. Expecting a 17km round-trip hike with 1700m of gain. It's 10km round-trip with 1100m of gain just to the lake. Regardless, this piques my curiosity.
I say beginner friendly as I'm content to hike up to the lake and reassess there.
