Description:

We all carry a bunch of survival and safety gear on us. Have you ever used it? Do you know if it works? That's the point of this trip. This will be a day trip where we get to test out our survival gear and knowledge in a safe environment.

Previous iterations of this trip focused on overnight survival, but it's a bit late in the year to test that out without pure type 4 fun. Instead, we'll focus on day gear. Chiefly, I would like to do two things

1. Practice discharging real bear spray to get a feel for its range and how to use it. I have about 10 bottles of expired spray sitting in the clubroom.

2. Practice starting a fire with what you have in your bag. Those who already have practice with that can try other methods, like different firestarters, or even something crazy like a fire bow.

That being said, this will be a very relaxed trip. If you have other gear and techniques you want to test out, there'll be time for it. I encourage people to be creative and come up with a list of ideas. At the pre-trip, I'll go over the basic stuff everyone should have, and then we can chat about our plan for the day.
