Description:
What is this trip about?
Winter In the Rockies typically starts early around September and it's pretty amazing if you like cold weather and white-covered mountains. It's an experience is skiing in the rockies, specially backcountry skiing. The Rockies get "champagne snow" which is dier and airer snow. If you are joined consider the overall cost of the trip gas, food, accommodation, rentals and other cost. Accomodation will be mainly hostels cost range from $34 to $38 a night.
Update: Routes and plan
Day 1: Ski Tour at Coquihalla Summit (staying in Revelstoke for the night)
Day 2: Ski Tour at 93 North (staying at Mosquito Creek Hostel)
Day 3: Ski Tour at Lake Louise/Banff Area (Staying at Castle Mt. Hostel)
Day 4: Ski Tour at Rogers Pass (Staying in Revelstoke)
Day 5: Short Ski tour Undecided (Drive back to Vancouver)
There is also a possibility that this might get modified to a different multi-day ski touring trip, due to distance from Vancouver to AB border.
Who Should come?
This trip isn't ideal first first-season backcountry skiers due to the terrain that will mainly comprise of challenging and complex terrain. Also, the snowpack in the Rockies is trickier than Coastal BC. You do not have to be fit to come but keep in mind that this areas starts at over 1000m above sea level plus the uphill.
I do require all participants to have an Avalanche Safety Training 1 (AST 1) or equivalent. This will be a limited-spot trip. Also you must be okay to skiing most to all the days.
If you have any question or concern feel free to send me a message.
Notes:
This trip is weather and avalanche-condition-dependent, so if things change we'll re-plan routes based on those premises
I'll put a list to bring later on to make sure everyones prepared.
Also, I am not a certified guide, just an avid backcountry skier. You are responsible for your own decision making in the backcountry.
