Description:

Winter Longhike: Hike in the snow, party in the snow, sleep in the snow, wake up, go home.

Winter Longhike is a friendly introduction to winter camping and a longstanding VOC tradition. This trip will involve donning snowshoes/microspikes/skis/splitboards, wandering into the snow somewhere (Pump Peak, Red Heather, the options are vast), building any flavour of snow shelter, and generally having a merry time. Consult this webpage for a nice gear list: https://www.ubc-voc.com/wiki/Winter_Longhike

Details will be discussed at the mandatory pre-trip meeting on Jan. 14th.

This is a beginner friendly trip. No prior experience required. All you need is enough stoke to keep you warm at night. If you have experience and want to calm the chaos, I will graciously accept your help.

Priority will go to drivers, then the commited list.

Things you can rent or buy from the VOC:

  •     Microspikes (buy) or snowshoes (rent)
  •     Boots
  •     Gaiters
  •     Backpack
  •     Sleeping pad
  •     Shovel
