Description:

Have you spent your whole life looking for someone? Are you in a committed relationship but hoping to make more platonic friends? Or maybe you're just searching for more ski buddies? Just looking for an excuse to show off to all of your classmates that you're not just any skiier, but a backcountry skiier?

This Valentine’s Day, join the VOC in celebrating love and friendship by wearing your beacon around campus. Switch it on when you're open to meeting people, and turn it to search mode when you're ready to connect with a fellow VOCer. Ditch the corporation-mandated chocolates, and let the frequency-modulated pulses of your transceiver be your whale's call in an ocean of electromagnetic potential. Bonus points if you can make actual whale sounds, too.

This event is open to everyone! I chose Valentine’s Day because it felt fitting, but the goal is to foster all types of relationships—both romantic, platonic, and whatever you call your Whistler rideshare network.

(And remember, turn off your beacon when you’d rather not be disturbed—like during bathroom breaks. Let’s avoid any awkward encounters!)
