Start: Thursday, Feb. 13th, 6:30 pm
Description:
Welcome to the VOC's first inagural skimo beer league!
Every Thursday we'll gather at Seymour (we might switch it up in the future too), to see how fast we can go up and down the mountain on skis.
Specific details for each race will be emailed to those signed up as interested on the signup tool.
The rules are simple:
The race starts at 6:30 PM at the seymour parking. You have 2 hours to do as many laps from the seymour backcountry gate, up to Brockton point and back down again as you can. You cannot start a lap after 8:30 PM, and if you're not back at the start point by 9:00 PM, your last lap does not count. After, we'll have a tailgate chill before heading home.
Enter your time/laps on the spreadsheet here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SEqfpcRi5q5Dt69eDl-7qLhvD1qA5hoOsT0aWz0QwFM/edit?usp=sharing
At the end of the league, prizes will be awarded to the person who does A: the most total laps over the entire league, B: the most laps in one race, and C: the fastest single lap.
This is a beer league which means you don't need to feel competitive to come. If all you think you can do is one lap in the two hours, but just want to get out and rip some seymour laps, this is still the trip for you!
Disclaimers:
While this is a low-key beer league, it is NOT an instructional series, or a good idea for complete beginners. You need to be self-sufficient the entire time you're racing. If you think you'll need any assistance completing a seymour lap on your own, this is not the trip for you.
You're responsible for your own ride to seymour. There's a rideshare tab on the spreadsheet if you want to organize carpools, but we won't be officially organizing rides.
If you get in trouble, tell them you're with the SFU outdoors club.
If too many people sign up, we might have to cap the number of people at an individual race to keep things simple/low key
