Description:

It was brought to my attention in an email chain this year that some of the ladies in the club used to organize women's ski trips not so long ago. In light of *recent events* (gestures wildly southwards) I figured it is high time we resurrect this tradition. Everyons who has said they are interested in this, please join so that this idea doesn't die in the group chat.

This is the first trip I hope to do as part of a larger series. The goal is to greate a supportive and empowering environment where women can develop their mountaineering and ski skills.

Objective

We will camp at the Beekers cabin over athe weekend and hopefully tick off a variety of moderate to steep lines around the cabin. This area offers fast access to high elevation skiing and is suited to most skill levels, from the steep and bold to the mellower trees.

Who can join?

Women, non-binary, trans, queer folk all welcome. This series is geared towards those who don't feel like they fit in to 'typical' outdoor spaces.

This is an advanced/intermediate friendly trip. If you're not sure, here are some items that can help you assess:

  • Having gone overnight backcountry skiing before, just so you know what to expect and can ski with an overnight pack.
  • General fitness, we will be slogging uphill and you will have to ski down after!
  • Some skiing ability. Confident on resort blues, funcitonal on blacks at minimum
  • Avalanche skills (AST 1 or equivalent)
  • If you are not sure if you are right for the trip, feel free to ask me
