Have been trying (and failing) to put together a group for the Spearhead, hoping I can get some committed folks together. Aim is to do in 2 days. However I'm open to doing it in a day if the majority wants to do it in a day, and we have a strong group. I feel like chances of success will be higher if we do it in 2 though.

Approach will be using the Blackcomb gondola: you can either pay $49 for a backcountry pass, or depending on your thoughts and feelings towards Vail, skin up ~45min.

This is probably not the ideal trip if you don't have overnight backcountry skiing experience or experience skiing in complex terrain. If you're at all unsure of your experience for this trip, feel free to email me with questions.

No pre-trip meeting. Wednesday morning I will send out an email to all those on the interested list with a whatsapp group invite link. We can discuss logistics there.

Requirements:

  • AST-1 or equivalent
  • Experience on glaciers/complex terrain
  • Able to participate in the decision making process
  • Able to ski black diamonds in variable conditions

Gear

  • Avi Gear
  • Glacier/Crevasse Rescue Gear
  • Ski Crampons probably necessary from recent reports
