Description:
Have you ever thought to yourself that the backpack weight you're saving by not bringing a tent to a hut could instead be filled with a horrible bottle of wine? Want an excuse to be out in the woods for a girl dinner? I have just the trip for you. Bring your favourite (or just any you can find) bottle of budget wine or 6 pack of beer (under $14) and a silly camping food to pair it with so that we can have a makeshift potluck that's mostly just snacks and samplings.
We would hike up to Phelix Hut via Phelix Creek Trail (AllTrails link here). It is about ~10k distance max (shorter depending on how high clearance vehicles are) and a 1200m climb. Hiking experience is required and backpacking experience nice but not extremely necessary (we can have a chat if you are unsure about it). In an ideal world, we would drive up at around 7am on Saturday for arrival at the trailhead at around 10am, get to the hut late afternoon, and have a silly goofy time. Flexible leaving time on Sunday depending on how everyone is feeling.
Come listen to me describe bad wine like it is nectar of the gods. One of my best friends is a certified sommelier and made me train with her "scent training kit". I'll tell you what niche essence your $7 "red blend" is giving. All the while having a great time out in the wilderness! Lmk if you have any questions (text/email)!
