12~20 km
Elevation:
1190-2122 m
Trailhead: Tricouni Meadows East Trailhead
Dates: Monday, Aug
ust 25, 2025 - Tuesday, August26, 2025

Overview:

Tricouni Peak and Seagram Lake are stunning spots located in the northern part of the Squamish River Valley. The hike offers views of high alpine lakes and jagged mountain peaks. Seagram Lake is the largest in the area, while Tricouni Peak offers exceptional panoramic views. The trail is partially overlapping, making it convenient to explore both destinations in one trip.

Day 1: Trailhead to Lakeside Campsite

Trailhead Elevation: 1190m
Campsite Elevation: 1460m
Distance:
3-7 km
Time: 2 hours
Difficulty: Medium

Morning:

Depart from the Tricouni Meadows East Trailhead after parking our vehicle.
• Follow the clearly marked trail leading to the lakeside campsite at an elevation of 1460 meters. This section is relatively easy with steady elevation gain.

Afternoon:

Arrive at the lakeside campsite, set at the base of the mountains. The serene spot by the lake makes for a perfect camping location.
• After
setting up camp, continue the hike towards Tricouni Peak.

Optional Side Hike: Tricouni Peak Summit

From the campsite, hike 2.2 km towards Tricouni Peak (2122m), with an elevation gain of 662 meters. The trail is somewhat clear but challenging due to steep terrain.
• From
the summit of Tricouni Peak, there’s an optional scramble to Tricouni W (2072m), about 0.8 km with a slight descent of 50 meters. This section involves some off-trail navigation, with about 70% of the route clear.
• After summiting Tricouni Peak, descend back to the lakeside campsite.

Day 2: Lakeside Exploration and Return to Trailhead

Campsite Elevation: 1460m
Seagram Lake Elevation: 1520m
Glacier Lake Elevation: 1770m
Distance:
9-13 km
Elevation Gain: 560m
Time:
7-9 hours
Difficulty: Medium

Morning:

After breakfast, depart the campsite and head towards Seagram Lake, which lies 3 km from the campsite, with a slight elevation gain of 60 meters. The path is well-marked and easy to follow.

Midday:

After reaching Seagram Lake, we have the option to explore asmall glaciallake. The route is roughly 2 km, with an elevation gain of 250 meters. This section involves some off-trail exploration, so be prepared for slightly difficult terrain.

Afternoon:

After visiting the glaciallake, descend back to the lakeside campsite, covering approximately 5 km with a descent of 310 meters. The route is partially marked but can be rough in sections.
Finally, return to the parking lot by retracing the 2.9 km trail to the Tricouni Meadows East Trailhead.

Key Highlights:

Tricouni Peak: The peak offers some of the most spectacular views of the surrounding mountain range and alpine lakes. The summit hike is a challenge but well worth the effort.
Seagram Lake: This is the largest lake in the area, offering peaceful waters surrounded by rugged mountains.
Unnamed g
laciallake: For those seeking adventure, the glacial lake provides a more remote alpine experience, set at a higher elevation and surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

Important Notes:

Navigation: Some sections of the trail—particularly around Glacier Lake and Tricouni W—are unmarked or faint. Bring reliable navigation tools such as a map, compass, or GPS.
Essential Gear: A lightweight tent, sturdy hiking boots, a reliable stove, sufficient water, and trekking poles (for steep or uneven terrain) are essential.
Weather Preparedness: Mountain weather is unpredictable. Be prepared for rain, wind, and sudden temperature drops, especially at higher elevations.
Self-Supported: All participants must carry their own gear, food, and water. No resupplies will be available.

Transportation & Vehicle Requirements

Parking Access: 126 km of paved road + about 50 km of rough dirt road
Recommended Vehicles: High-clearance 4x4 vehicles are ideal for the final stretch to the parking area
Carpooling: Carpooling is encouraged to minimize environmental impact and reduce vehicle requirements

We’d love to bring as many adventurers as possible, but space will be limited by the number of available car seats. Priority will go first to those on the confirmed list, followed by those on the tentative list. Drivers are especially welcome — your contribution is essential, and you’ll always have top priority!

To help everyone share transportation costs fairly and transparently, I’ve created a simple Carpool Cost Calculator. Just enter trip distance, fuel price, and number of people — the spreadsheet will do the rest.
