Description:
Welcome to my summer bike-touring trip series "Island Hops and Hilltop Stops" finale!*
I seem to have caught the bike-touring bug ever since my trip to Saturna Island (in 2024) and with the lack of bike trips in the VOC (Not anymore, yay), something had to be done. The plan is to visit as many Gulf islands as possible before the school year starts. The current tentative lineup is as follows (I plan to increase difficulty with each week):
- Gabriola Island ✅
- Pender Island ✅
- Mayne Island ✅
- Salt Spring Island ✅
- Galiano Island ✅
- Saturna Island (Arguably one of the easiest Southern Gulf Islands but seemed like a fitting way to end the Southern Gulf Island Trips) ✅
- The finale-ish? → A big loop biking up to Buckley Bay, tagging Denman, Hornby, Lasqueti, Texada, Sunshine Coast. Oh boy!
Trip Overview
- Location: All over
- Approx. Total Distance: ~500-600km
- Elevation: 3000-5000m
- I’ll have pre-trip to go through the trip plan and answer any questions or concerns. I can also run gear hours so you can rent out the gear you need.
Logistics
This is not beginner friendly!
Participants will not be chosen based on committed list but rather experience and an healthy amount of personal bias. More info on the selection process will be given closer to the committed date.
^ Very rough route, Not including the islands (Includes ferry distance) but should give you and idea of the loop. I know it makes no sense to go to Tsawwassen but it makes the loop nice and It'd be nice to go there on the final trip given all other trips went through there too.

- *** At your own risk as there might not be a place to set up a hammock. Although I plan to hammock camp, so I’ll try to make it so we always do.
