Description:
The door at Burton hut got damaged this winter and we will replace it by a sturdy steel door.
We want to bring the new steel door to Burton hut/Sphinx bay before the lake is impassable and we need many strong helpers for that. Roland is painting the door during this week and this upcoming weekend it should be ready to go.
We need some very strong people that can take turns carry the door (57lbs) strapped on their back up the switchbags.
We also need somewhat strong people that can carry other parts (the door frame weighs 48.2 lbs and can be carried as several packages) and some people that can help to carry the personal gear of the door carriers.
This trip is beginner friendly and no special skills are needed. You can decide if you want to come on skis or snowshoes, but snowshoes/boots might work better on the switchbacks since you would have to carry your skis for quite a while.
We will have a pre-trip meeting this Wednesday at 6:30pm in the clubroom.
More details will follow.
