Brew Hut Adventure

This trip will happen the weekend of October 3rd-4th. Our departure time is still to be determined, but expect it to be fairly early on Saturday morning. We will be back in Vancouver in the evening on Sunday.

We will be going up to one of our four huts: the Brew Hut. It is roughly located across the Sea to sky highway form the popular Garibaldi Lake trail. Absolutely stunning views are guaranteed, without the immensly high human traffic of Garibaldi.

You. Everyone is welcome. The trip is beginner friendly, which means that even if you have no prior outdoor experience, we will help you in every way so that you reach the destination and have a good time. In fact, this trip is intended as an introductory trip for new members of the club. You will have the chance to encounter other new and keen members and to complete a Workhike so that you can borrow gear for future trips.

Taking care of the huts is a lot work that could not be accomplished without you, the members of the club. Although if you wanted to come just for the hike, you are more than welcome to, the purpose of this trip is to do some maintenance work on the hut in order to prepare it for the winter. One of the things that has to get done is the preparation of firewood for the hut stove. It will need to get hauled from the location of the old hut. Potentially, some could get chopped as well. Another important undertaking is the relocation of the outhouse, which we can try to do if we have the time.

  • there's a Coleman stove up there so if you just bring white gas (naphtha, Coleman fuel) you can cook on it but it might be a bit slow if there's 12 people all trying to use it.
  • Pot and matching pot gripper
  • Toothbrush
  • water treatment

Pre-trip meeting

Officially, the pre-trip meeting will take place at 8pm in WOOD 6 right after the intro-night to which all the new members are strongly encouraged to come. At the meeting, we will sort out rides and food groups for those who do not have them yet. We will also take a look at the task list for the hut and try to get an idea as to what each person would want to work on. It is best if everyone attends the meeting, but if there are extenuating circumstances, email me at [email protected] or call 604 329 2109 and we will work something out.
