My experiments in dense mosquitoes up north have shown that DEET is superior to bug nets at preventing bites. With the net bugs can get in around the neck if you are not careful, and can get in if you lift up the net to eat etc. They can also bite through the net where it contacts your body (eg. if not wearing a wide brimmed hat, or if your hat is thin). DEET is pretty much entirely effective if you apply it everywhere. I still generally like the net better since it doesn't melt my stuff or me, but I'm not sure that saying that it "works way better" is justified. Scott Webster 17:57, 22 July 2010 (PDT)
