A few corrections worth noting:
- The first ~4km to alder flats is actually pretty flat. The steepest part of the hike is just above alder flats.
- The "hut" is actually an emergency shelter. It's tiny, and maybe sleeps 8 if you use all the available floor space. It's also very high up on the mountain, perhaps 200m below the summit.
- IIRC, there are some descent camping areas where the trail intersects the main N-S Ridge that forms the Alouette-Pitt Divide. When I hiked this trail in 2003 there was an old dilapidated cabin in this area. Higher up toward the summit (near the emergency shelter) there may be water from snow melt but the terrain is steeper and rocky.
