Talk:Hut etiquette
I think a page on Hut etiquette ("hutiquette?") would be useful. Some of the VOC huts have signs about important things, but there always seem to be some things that happen on hut trips that I would consider bad etiquette - usually because people just don't know, or don't think. Off the top of my head - peeing on the correct side of the hut away from water sources, being meticulous about containing and packing out garbage, not moving anything that isn't yours unless you have asked the owner first, being quiet if people are trying to sleep before an alpine start, removing as much snow as possible outside or at the door. I think if written well, with a little humour and without being condescending, and linked from the hut pages so people new to backcountry huts are likely to see it, it could be a useful page. Perhaps some general things, and a few specifics for the VOC huts (although maybe specifics are better on the hut pages). Any thoughts? --Matthew 13:09, 10 March 2008 (PDT)
