Description:

At long last, a CoC successor to satisfy your caving cravings. We will spend the long weekend embarking on a long drive up to Port McNeill, on Vancouver Island, to explore some large caverns and drink Mai Tais on the subterranean beach. Explorer 200 is optional.

 

This trip is for participants that have been caving with the VOC in past years, and are psyched to get underground again, after a long hiatus!

 

This is not an instructional trip, and participants must be competent at ascending ropes. I have never been to these caves before so we will be exploring new ground together! The group size will be limited to two vehicles, and will not necessarily be first come first served. We will likely meet up with a small group from VICEG out there.

 

Requirements and priority:

  • Caving experience; priority to past cousin of cave attendees that are st0ked. I know who you are.
  • Bring your own SRT gear and know how to use it efficiently.
  • Wetsuits TBD!

Vague Itinerary:

  • Saturday: First ferry out, Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo. Big drive to around Port McNeill. Setup camp at a Rec site. Caving!
  • Sunday: Caving! Party.
  • Monday: Easy, tourist caving likely. Drive home, late ferry back to the mainland.
